Might, Power, Spirit

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.“. ‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭‬

If I am doing things in my own might and power, I am missing out on Holy Spirit in my life. It is only by God’s power that I can live out the plans and purpose He has for my life.

I think one of the benefits of not knowing something is that I have to rely on Holy Spirit, for wisdom and power. It is an uncomfortable and sometimes hard place to be in. It also generally has the best outcomes when I rely on His power.

I often find I want to stop doing something when I can’t see the result in a time frame that makes me feel okay. I am quickly reminded God doesn’t work in my time frame. Just like the disciples were told to wait on Holy Spirit’s power to fulfill God’s plan and purpose for their lives, I have to wait on God’s timing if I want Holy Spirit’s power for His plans and purpose for my life. Holy Spirit lives inside me, but He will never operate in my timing.

Lord, I know often I try to do things in my might and power, forgive me. I want Your plans and purpose in my life and I know I can’t accomplish them in my strength. Help me to wait on You.
