Receive, know, speak

”Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.“. ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭‬‬

Combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words is a gift from Holy Spirit. There are times when I’m counseling, and I have a thought that is hard for me to formulate. I love when Holy Spirit steps in and gives me the words that cut right through and minister to the person in front of me right where they are. I have been trained with human wisdom. They’re my education and experience. And yet Holy Spirit can do so much more in a brief moment, than years of therapy. I just have to receive from Him in the moment.

I know I t is not the spirit of the world that is in me, it is the Spirit of God. There may be times that I allow the spirit of the world to influence me, but it does not abide within me as Holy Spirit does. He freely gives me God‘s wisdom, when I am ministering to others, or when I am doing things that bring Him glory. He gives me the words to speak, if I will only obey.

Thank you, Lord that I have received the gift of Holy Spirit. I know that You want to work in and through me as a minister to others to bring You glory. I pray that You would help me to speak when You say speak and stay silent when You want me to be silent. Help me to be obedient to You in the moment.
