Return and Heal

For the heart of this people has become dull,
With their ears they scarcely hear,
And they have closed their eyes,
Otherwise they would see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.’ Matthew 13:15

This is part of an Old Testament prophecy from Isaiah that Jesus used as to why He spoke to the people in parables. Most people in the Jewish culture had a strong foundation in Old Testament laws and the miracles their people experienced. Most also had a teaching of the prophets. Yet, they didn’t see Jesus as the one the scriptures pointed too. They couldn’t hear the authority with which Jesus spoke. Jesus desired they would understand with their hearts and return to God instead of just walking in legalism. He wanted the nation to find healing.

God still desires this to day. He doesn’t just want lip service. He desires to see the fruit in our life. He desires to hear us speak with the same authority because of our relationship with Him and because Holy Spirit resides in us.

Lord, I continue to lift up Israel to You, give them understanding and bring them to You. Protect them. Help the United States to also begin to see and hear. We need to come to You.
