”and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.“. 1 Peter 2:24
Healed Strong’s G2390 – iaomai to make whole i.e. to free from errors of sin, to bring about salvation, to cure one literally of a disease
This is one of my favorite passages to pray for those in need of healing. Jesus bore our sin that we might live in His righteousness. It was an unequal trade completed on the cross. He made us whole at the cross. Salvation was provided at the cross. We were freed from the error of our son at the cross. Being cured from diseases was completed at the cross.

I admit, I have been disappointed at times when a person I was praying for passed away. Yet in reading this definition, I understand at times the healing takes place as the person passes from this temporal life in their earthly body into eternal life. In eternal life, we will be forever free of the errors of sin, they are saved and are free of disease.
It took me time after the death of my father to understand this. I just wanted my daddy to live free of cancer. I felt like my faith was not good enough. It was only as I grew in relationship with God that I was able to understand and allow myself to work through the anger I felt. God was not surprised by my reaction. He can handle the emotions, thoughts and feelings; He just doesn’t want us to be controlled by them.
