Restoration and Healing

For I will restore you to health
And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the Lord,
‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying:
“It is Zion; no one cares for her.”’
Jeremiah 30:17

This prophecy by Jeremiah was a promise from God not to abandon His people so long the other nations would say that God forgot about them. It was still attached to repentance on the part of the Israelites. God is faithful to His people, it is who He is. He is not willing that any would have cause to speak ill of Him. He is also just, there was corrective action towards the Israelites for their behaviors.

This healing was Strong’s H724 – ‘ărûḵâ A figurative picture of the healing and restoration of Israel.

God doesn’t promise that every person will be physically healed. He does promise that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will one day be restored back to Him. This restoration happens spiritually at our conversion and then when we pass from this life into eternal life.

The word heal here is figurative also.  Strong’s H7495 – rāp̄ā’ – to heal the hurts of a nation.

America needs this type of healing, due to the division and the generational hearts that have occurred across many races and cultures in our history. It is a healing only God can bring as the past cannot be changed. The wounds that were created, the slaughter of so many can only be covered by the blood of Jesus. The pain is real. Injustices won’t be denied. There’s no restoration that will bring healing except the blood of Christ. He has the power to heal if we will repent and seek His face.

Lord, I thought I was studying healing for myself but I can see how this applies to our nation. Lord I lift up America and every sovereign nation within its geographical borders. I stand in the gap repenting for this nation’s history of oppression and slaughter. Restore us to the health, heal the wounds of this nation’s people. We seek Your face and the restitution that only Your blood can cover. In Jesus name amen.
