”The Lord will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, You restore him to health.“ Psalms 41:2-3
This is one of those health scriptures that gives me pause. I believe God is a healer, and he is the great physician. I believe that to be a fact. Yet, I have prayed at the deathbed of my father, declaring Health and prayed with many and for many and seen death still come. Those are also facts. Yet I still believe God will protect, he will sustain people, and he restores people to health in their illness.

I realize sometimes this happens on earth, and sometimes it is on the other side of death in heaven. I may not ever be able to explain it. I know God knows in advance the number of our days. I also know that sin entered the world and so people have free will. People take lives, accidents happen, and sometimes people don’t take care of themselves. I don’t believe that God takes people. I believe that He receives them unto Himself. I also don’t believe people are angels watching over us despite how much to Hollywood portrays this. Angels are created beings, Adam was made in the image of God and He breathed life into man. We are born of God, His children.
When we are children of God, it is our spirit that God protects. Our spirit is eternal, our body is temporal. God does bless His children while on earth. Holy Spirit empowers us to not give into our desires. Health is restored in heaven for everyone.
Lord, Your ways are higher than mine. Your thoughts are higher than mine. I may never understand this side of heaven why sometimes people die, despite all the prayers in faith. Yet I still trust You and know You want what is best for all of Your children.
