”In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:11-12
There is so much in these two verses. In Christ we have an inheritance. An inheritance is received after someone dies. It is Jesus’s death that provided us the ability to be grafted into God’s family and receive His inheritance.
People often say “God is in control.” This verse says He works all things for His plans and purpose. If we really believe that, we can obey when He instructs, we can ask what is next instead saying “I can’t” because it is His plans that He is working out.
Lastly this passage says we are the praise of His glory. When we believe, we surrender to His plans and purposes, and when we keep our trust in Him it brings Him glory. We glorify God in these ways.
Lord, thank You for the many reminder of Your plans and purpose for my life. You gave Christ so I could obtain Your inheritance. You created me for God works and I want to completely participate in Your will for my life. I surrender to You will, in Jesus name. Let my life be for your glory. Amen.
