Wisdom is Better

”Oh, I know, “Wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭

The quote “Knowledge is power.” is attributed to Francis Bacon. And while knowledge may be power, wisdom is everything. I love learning, but human knowledge is foolishness next to the wisdom of God. His Word tells us that we can ask for it:

”But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all.“ ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬

Wisdom dispels foolishness just as light dispels darkness. God can bring it unknown or hidden things into the light with His wisdom. He is willing to give wisdom because true wisdom doesn’t come from age, it comes from God. Experience come from age, wisdom is given by God. He will give it generously and graciously if we ask for it.”

As much as I love knowledge, I want God’s wisdom more. I have seen it in action giving me knowledge of information I did not otherwise know. I can think of four very specific instances where I know His wisdom operated in me. He provided a solution to a problem I had on the job that we had struggled finding an answer for and it just came to me. Twice He has given me knowledge of others actions although not in specific detail. The first time was to warn someone. The other time was Him trying to prepare my heart for what was to come. The fourth time, I didn’t listen but He told me to do something. Because I didn’t listen to His wisdom I reaped the pain of disappointment.

So knowledge is power but wisdom is better. All we have to do is ask God for wisdom.
