”What did you gain from doing the things that you are now ashamed of? The result of those things is death! But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life. For sin pays its wage—death; but God’s free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.“. Romans 6:21-23
I was talking with a good friend and the small group of women that I just met, and they asked about the crazy times in our past. Although much of my past, I will share as a testimony of God, transformative grace and power, I don’t really like to talk about my past sins as a matter of reminiscing or bragging rights for the stupid things I did.
I’m ashamed of many things for my past, and only when God prompts do I want to share them. That sharing usually comes when someone who is walking in condemnation of their past and is yoked by the enemy. God is set me free and I want everyone to know that same freedom.
As I reluctantly shared, I was so thankful that it was a life that I no longer live. I am free from that sin and the weight of it. I know my past leads to death. And I have lost too many friends in their sin.
I can’t say that my life is fully dedicated to God. There are still areas where I have to choose to walk in the freedom He already provided. He knows my heart desire is to serve Him. By His grace I will get there!
Lord, I know my past is forgiven. Let it only be used for Your glory. I am free from that sin. Help me to fully dedicate my life to You.
