However, as the scripture says, “What no one ever saw or heard,
what no one ever thought could happen,
is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
I live in anticipation of what God will do. Yes, sometimes I lose sight in the midst of trials, but when I quiet myself before Him, I can recenter on the anticipation.
I love to see how God comes through. It is generally in a way that I never expected. I will frequently pray for things to happen a certain way. I will be so focused on what I want to see that I miss out on the steps of God working things out in a whole different way. It is only in looking back that I see how He met a need in an unexpected way.
There are times also when I am with clients, where He speaks. Sometimes it is through me, but other times they speak something that unexpectedly ministers to me. I know it is a God moment. God prepares those things for us, knowing what we need in the moment. It makes me smile when clients come back and tell me “what you said last week really stuck with me” and go on to explain how it has changed things for them. I generally don’t even remember the wisdom, so I have to say “Which part?” Often I don’t even recall it, but God prepared their ears to hear it and I just got to be the vessel He spoke through.
His thoughts always surprise me because His thoughts are so much higher than mine. One of my favorite things about long drives is that He has the time to quiet all my thoughts and I can hear from Him. He shows me things (In my mind) that are fresh insights. He will take a song, a podcast, a teaching and draw my thoughts into a completely different God perspective. I am often left questioning why I never saw things in the same light before. God knows when we are ready for certain revelations. He will reveal things in His timing.
God has so many good things prepared for us. We can live in anticipation of what we will see, hear and think as we align our lives with Him. Keep your eyes open, your ears attentive, and your thoughts focused on Him to see how He surprises you when are anticipation of Him
