Area Curses

God’s curse on anyone who accepts money to murder an innocent person.’ “And all the people will answer, ‘Amen!’ Deuteronomy 27:25

I was recently listening to a book on prophetic prayer and the writer spoke about how some areas are under demonic influence because of generational curses. As I thought about it and the region I live I began to ponder what influences have been handed down in New Mexico. There’s a lot of bad stuff going on here right now in these borders.

While I know it’s not something I can take on by myself (with God) I thought about doing some research to see what’s been handed down through the history of this state. Deuteronomy 27 and 28 talk about the curses that were handed down as well as the blessings. I asked the Lord to show me some of the territorial roots here in New Mexico.

Although I am not originally from New Mexico my great-grandfather was born here in Lincoln County. Lincoln County is famous for Billy the kid. When my grandfather was born well after Billy the kid died, I felt led to that time.. Although many of the sins listed are likely to be tied to problems in this area, this one stuck out to me as I watched a show about Billy the kid. The gang that he was originally part of did exactly this, accepting money for murdering innocent people.

What might happen in this region if we began to repent for some of these things that were committed by the people who settled in this region, repented for the things that were done to its original inhabitants? Could we take back our schools, our cities, our state and nation? Could we break this strongholds that are causing so much havoc in our lives today? There is much talk about generational curses and we think about breaking them off of our families, but do we think about breaking them off the regions in which we live?

Lord continued to develop this interest in me if it is something that you want me to pursue. Link me with other believers in this area that are serious about breaking the chains and strongholds that have been here in Valencia County and New Mexico. How to pray bold prayers and to take back this territory that was so easily given to Satan. Lord show me my part.
