Ask

“If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬ ‭‬‬

This year God has really worked with me on asking. He showed me how with people and with Him I would often tell what I want or need but I wouldn’t directly ask. I might suggest something but I wouldn’t come right out and ask for it. I admit I still catch myself.

He showed me the roots of how I felt like what I needed didn’t matter when I was growing up. What I wanted didn’t feel like it mattered either. Because of this, I stopped asking and I started manipulating others to get what I wanted. I was good at getting others to do what I wanted And I didn’t have to be vulnerable and ask.

But that is not how God operates. That is not how He wants us to be. Manipulation is not godly. Asking is godly. Jesus asked for what He wanted and He is our example. Yes, sometimes people fell short of His request, but He still asked. I am to do the same with people and with God.

Lord, today, I thank You for everything that You have walked me through. And I ask for those who are going through similar things now that You would meet their needs.

I pray and ask Your peace and comfort for those who are in broken homes due to abuse, neglect, or incarceration. I pray that what the enemy meant to destroy You will use for Your kingdom purpose.

I ask Lord for You to comfort for those who mourn. Help them to feel Your presence with them, bringing peace and joy again. I ask and pray that You would surround them with people they can cry with. And people who will be a comfort and encouragement as I walk through grief.

I ask Lord for shelter for the homeless, and that people would treat them with compassion and understanding. I pray that they would be warm and fed with good food too.

Lord, I pray for those who are struggling in the relationships. I asked Lord that You help each person to be able to see their part in the conflict and problems. Help them each to seek You on what they need to do to best serve their partner in love. I ask You help each of them to see the best in their partners.

Lord, I pray for those who question their purpose and Your plans for their lives. I ask that You be with people who are held back in their callings. Those with limiting beliefs that aren’t true, I pray you break the lies off their minds. Help them to see themselves as You do. Let them be set free by Your truth. I ask these things in Jesus name amen.
