Kept in the Dark

They do not believe, because their minds have been kept in the dark by the evil god of this world. He keeps them from seeing the light shining on them, the light that comes from the Good News about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4

As I was listening to Possessing the Gates of the Enemy by Cindy Jacobs this scripture was shared along with a testimony of a group of people sharing the Gospel and handing out tracts in the former Soviet Union. She shared how people were so receptive until they got to a particular spot and people would not take the tracts and acted like they didn’t even exist. Once she realized their reaction was darkness caused by evil spirits reigning in the region. The demonic influence had caused their minds to be kept in the dark. Once they realized it and prayed against the spirit that was causing the darkness, broke its power, the people started to take the tracts and readily received the Gospel.

For years, when I pray for certain areas and specific topics I have prayed “Lord, remove whatever is blinding them from the Truth.” Maybe I have used this scripture as a source and just forgot this is where I got it. I am glad for the reminder. Our world needs to see the light.

I won’t pretend to be an expert in spiritual warfare but I know there are many evil spirits operating in our society. As the Church, God’s children need to bind the work of the enemy in our cities. It will not just be a single person task. It will take the corporate body binding together to dispel these evil forces out of our community. Praying in unity and continuing to push back the gates of hell in our communities, our cities, our state and our nation.

Prayer – Lord, thank You for this Scripture to stand on in prayer because I know Your Word doesn’t return void. Let me be a beacon of light in the world around me and a voice to declare that your Spirit will rule and reign. In Jesus name. Amen.
