Seeking Wisdom

But it is the spirit of Almighty God that comes to us and gives us wisdom. It is not growing old that makes us wise or helps us to know what is right. Job 32:8-9

I listen to a lot of podcasts. I love learning and it is an easy way to gain knowledge. I also read (or should I say listen) to books a lot also. My audible app says that I have read two months, 14 days, 11 hours, and 43 minutes since 2020. Those numbers don’t include the Apple podcasts that I listen to daily Or the occasional book that I read on Kindle or hardback and the Google podcast I sometimes listen to. All the knowledge that I can gain through other’s experiences still cannot compare to what Holy Spirit can teach me. He brings wisdom. He helps me know what is right because He knows God’s plan for my life.

What worked for someone else can be practical. Wisdom isn’t always practical. Number once when I felt like he led me to reduce what we were offering to sponsors in order to increase the profit to our annual fundraiser. It seemed like it was counterintuitive. Yet, it worked. In our funding by almost $20,000 that is what God’s wisdom can do. He had showed me things that I don’t know and when I listen and obey it works out every time.

It is helpful to learn from others and to gain insight from others’ experience. We are told to seek wise council. Thanks to online resources we have access to much Godly council, in addition to our personal circle. All that counsel is still nothing compared to what we can know seeking God’s wisdom and counsel. His ways are so much higher than ours.

Lord, thank you for all the godly counsel that is available to me and that I can learn from so many. Lord practical knowledge is helpful but the wisdom that comes from Holy Spirit is even better. Help me to remember to seek you with every decision that impacts your plan for my life and for those I influence.
