Renewed Thoughts

As the scripture says, “Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?” We, however, have the mind of Christ.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭

Can anyone tell the Lord what to do? Who can teach him or give him advice? With whom does God consult in order to know and understand and to learn how things should be done?” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭13‬-‭14‬

How great are God’s riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways? As the scripture says, “Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?” Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭33‬-‭34‬ ‭‬‬

I’ve been doing a lot of work on mindset recently and on limiting beliefs. Even the devotional I have been doing has spoke about it. It definitely has my attention when the scripture came into my daily reading. I also came across the previous journal entry about it that I’m blogging.

What I recognize is that when I have a limiting belief about God, myself, or others it is because my mind has not been renewed in this area. I have to do the work to change the false messages I am believing. More subtle and hard to recognize. They go undetected without someone calling me out on it.

When I hear people say “I can’t…” When my children were growing up and I heard these words, I would immediately have them repeat back to me “I can do all things through Christ to strengthens me”. I heard this scripture a lot when they were growing up. With clients who don’t have that desire for the Biblical counsel, I will challenge them with “but why won’t you?” We can then begin to explore the barriers to the things they previously said they can’t do. “Why” is a great question when some one is motivated to change. Then you can follow it up with “How can they make that happen?”

When I stop and think that I have the mind of Christ, I recognize that His thoughts are so much higher than mine. If I began thinking in line with the truth of scriptures instead of limiting beliefs that I have picked up from the world around me how would it change my outlook?

What areas do I need to start renewing my mind?

A few areas I have already been renewing:

I think about finances especially in the role of working part time – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

When I think of my dreams – For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37 and I want to add I have the mind of Christ.

When I think of the words I speak – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

When I don’t feel well – Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.1 Peter 2:24

Prayer – Lord I know that there are many areas in my life where I have limiting beliefs that I’m not yet aware of. Please open my eyes and ears. To me those areas where I’m blind. I can form my mind by renewing it and bringing every thought captive and bringing it into alignment with the truth of your word. Show me, teach me, and renew me. In Jesus name, Amen
