Cheerful

All the days of the afflicted are evil,
    but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast. Proverbs 15:15

The message version says “a miserable heart means a miserable life; a cheerful heart feels the day with song.”

I love days when I walk around with a song in my heart. I know that life is good regardless of what the circumstances around me might be saying. It is different from the days where a song just gets stuck in my head. The air is lighter, the sun is brighter, and there is a little spring in my step. And it can be contagious!

There are times I have been so miserable, I’ve had to bite my tongue. I don’t want to spread my misery. I believe the choice is up to me. I have to choose cheerful over miserable. I am not be able to change all of my circumstances but I can change my outlook on it.

Lord, Help me to keep a cheerful disposition and not be miserable!
