Spiritual Warfare

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

We are in human, flesh bodies, here on Earth; but our battle is not against a person. I have people in my life, both clients and family that are really into anime. While there might be some anime that are completely innocent, the ones that I have heard about from clients are definitely evil. There’s a spirit attached to it that is infiltrating our children.

Many of the authors of anime shows and literature have committed suicide. They glamorize demons making them the good character. They show themes like suicide, self harm and violence making it normal. I don’t think most parents realize what they are really allowing their children to watch. They may not realize what they are bringing into their homes.

Many anime characters look cute. At times the characters look harmless, others look downright demonic. It is a slippery slope. Kids watch so much on different platforms, it’s hard to keep up. I knew little about anime until I started exploring it with my clients learning what they were into. I’m a little removed from a teen scene because my kids are adults and most of their kids are still little.

I started writing down the names of the shows, movies and books. Then I began reading about the plots and the authors, producers and directors. I quickly saw a pattern. I began recognizing the spiritual aspect that is not being addressed. Some anime listed as Christian, but I have yet to have a youth mentioned them. I haven’t watched them to see if they might be a positive alternative to point kids to.

I am not an anime fan; I’ll have to see what I think about Christian versions and if it really lines up with God’s word or just has a little Christianity thrown in to have another door to spread a different message. If I can offer a godly alternative I’m all for it!

Lord, I thank You that I can be a tool to stand in the gap and pray against the things that are not of You. It is not about the creators but about the spirit attached to it. Your spirit is more powerful. Wage war in the spirit realm to take down this enemy that is trying to create a stronghold in the lives of our youth and young adults. Open parents’ eyes and guardians’ eyes to what they are allowing in their home. Let adults stand in the gap and wage war in your divine power to bring everything we allow into our lives of our children and in our homes in obedience to your word! Get ahold of the creators, producers and participants that they would encounter You and want to produce a more wholesome version. In Jesus name, amen
