Heal the Land

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Following the attacks on US soil on September 11, 2001 this scripture took a prominent place in our country. Then as time passed, we began to get back to “normal”. We started letting pride replace humble. We went back to scripted prayers instead of prayers of passionate desperation. We stopped seeking His face and instead started seeking our own pleasure. Instead of turning from our own wickedness, we’ve run deeper into it; becoming even more wicked. We gave stopped expecting God to hear us and miss opportunities to come back before Him for our country. We’ve stopped seeking His forgiveness claiming grace and tolerance in place of our sin. Our land is under attack, but we are missing it as we fight in our own strength advocating for saving everything else but lost souls.

My heart breaks, but I’m still one of God’s people. I can still be one and ask God to send the laborers for the harvest. We can still as a people, get on our knees for our country. I may be one, but I read in the Bible God used one man, Jonah to save Nineveh. God used one man Moses to lead the Israelites out. God used one man Jesus to save the world.

I have to stop looking at what I want the world to do, expecting that someone else should fill the gap. I just need to stand in the gap and be His people. I need to do what He has called me to do and pray that others will also step up to do their part. I can’t allow what others do to keep me from doing my part.

Lord, I humbly come before You because I am one of Your people. I am called by Your name and You’ve told me that I can boldly come to Your throne. The United States of America and the 23 tribes represented in New Mexico need You! I seek Your face standing in the gap for these nations. Lord, turn us from our wickedness. I repent and I ask for You to forgive our sins. Move us out of our sin because the darkness cannot overcome Your light. Your lights shine and bring the truth to light. Let the laborers for Your harvest step up and step out in this nation. Heal our land Lord in the physical sense but even more in the spiritual! Amen.
