And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18
When a bride is unveiled, her face is shown. From the story of Leah and Rebecca with Jacob, one could conclude that if he married Leah, he must not have unveiled Leah during the marriage ceremony. He didn’t even realize until the next morning that he married the wrong sister (Genesis 29:15-26) We are called to unveil our face so that we can see the glory of the Lord and be changed into His image.
As I wrote out this scripture, I thought about how we often try to imitate others, wanting to be like them. We imitate the way they pray or the way they fellowship, their ministry or their calling. When we do that, we are masking who God made us to be. It is only when we stop pretending and unveil our face that we can be transformed into His image. We are designed to display his image uniquely to the world around us. We were not made to imitate others, but to imitate God and allow Him to transform our life. We can only reflect Him when we allow Holy Spirit to make us more like His image.
