Endurance

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 2 Timothy 1:6

I took a deep breath as I started back to work after a long holiday weekend. Systems weren’t working like they should and so I was frustrated. The beginning of the year is always a little challenging in the medical world as people start new medical plans, and have new deductibles to meet. Had a lot on my plate to take care of already and then I had coworkers out. Feeling less and excited. Finded myself that I still have a job to do and the word endurance came to mind.

While the passage doesn’t give the word endurance, certainly Paul is encouraging Timothy to endure whatever he is facing. Him of his past and encouraging him to stir up the gift within him. Other than waiting on things for work, I am not really dealing with anything that would cause me to think of endurance as something I am going to need. I feel endurance is my word. Words that are used in the Greek Lexicon :: Strong’s G5281 – hypomonē are steadfastness, consistency, endurance, patience, sustaining, perseverance.

Dictionary.com says endurance is a noun

  1. the fact or power of enduring or bearing pain, hardships et cetera
  2. the ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress or adverse conditions; stamina
  3. lasting quality; duration
  4. something endured as a hardship or trial

I don’t know what to make of the word, but I do know that regardless that God is with me. Regardless of what I need to face, He will be with me just like He was with Timothy. I’ve already been through a lot and God has brought me thus far. I know that I don’t want to go through more hardships, trials and pain but I know that it is what is needed for me to go to the next level with God. I want to be used for His glory. I know He will be with me every step of the way. I do pray that it is more of the ability and quality that God has already proven in me. I found this passage:

By your endurance you will gain your lives. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭21‬:‭19‬ ‭‬‬

Endurance is what I need physically, emotionally, mentally and most of all spiritually.

Lord, I don’t know what You mean by giving me the word endurance for this year but I will study it out. I trust You and I am looking forward to what You are calling me to do.
