And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” Mark 10:51
I love that Jesus had the man verbalize what he wanted from Jesus. Often I need something but putting it into words, what I really need or want, is more difficult. Jesus wanted him to be specific.
What is it I want from Jesus? What do I want Him to do for me? I want for my family to serve Him from the oldest member to the youngest. I want them to have a personal relationship with Him.
For me, I want to be used by Him. I want to hear His voice and be obedient to Him. I know He won’t work against my will but I want my will to match His will. I want to be willing to ask others “what do you want me to do for you?” and do it from the strength and power of the Holy Spirit within me. I don’t want to try to do it from my own strength.
Lord, I thank You for asking each of us what we need You to do. Despite the fact You already know what we need, You still ask. I admit, at times I’m really at a loss for what I truly need. In those moments, reveal to me your will. Show me Your will and Your ways. Increase my desire for Your will. Show me where there are needs that You have called me to meet. Open my eyes to opportunities ahead of me. I ask these things in Christ’s name, amen.
