Brotherly Love

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10

God’s love is different to me than brotherly affection. Some translations say “be devoted in brotherly love”. God’s love is perfect; brotherly love is constant but has its ups and downs. I think God knew we wouldn’t always love with His perfect love but that we could continue to love each other despite our differences, disagreements and difficulties.

We outdo each other with love by giving great respect to one another. When I think highly of someone this is going to help me in those times of differences, disagreements and difficulties. I can give them the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming the worst. This can help me respond with thought instead of reacting in the moment.

Lord help me to love others. Help me to outdo others in showing honor. I love You Lord!
