And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18
Your boldness will be from His glory and will be natural.
in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. Ephesians 3:18
My spiritual mentor gave me this word to night, and this passage in 2 Corinthians 3:18 as a word for me. She encouraged me to meditate on it.
Open – unveiled
Face – The front of a human head.
Behold as in a glass – To behold oneself as in a mirror, the glory of Christ which we behold in the gospel as in a mirror from which it is reflected.
Glory – The absolute perfect inward or personal excellence of Christ
Of the Lord – Respectful title
Are changed – To transfigure, transform, we are transformed into the same image of a consummate excellence that shines in Christ, reproduce the same image.
I really want to meditate on this passage not just complete my journal entry. There’s nothing between my face and God’s reflection, except what I put there. He says, “Look at me, behold me, but know that when You look in the mirror it is a reflection of Me because you have been transformed into My image.”
I get the scripture, but I realize I have never looked at myself like that. Never have I seen myself as anything other than a reflection of Jackie. Despite knowing that I was made in His image and the others see Christ in me, at least at times. Do I allow myself to Behold Christ in me? Do I recognize not that I have been changed, but that I am being made, transformed into his image? I don’t think I do. I pray for God to give me eyes to see others as He sees them. But I’m not sure that I’ve ever said God give me eyes to see myself as You see me and then actually stopped to look in the mirror instead of closing my eyes.
Lord, let me see myself through Your eyes to see the reflection of Your glory in my life. With open face and open eyes let me see who I am in You.
