Wings of Protection

““O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! See, your house is left to you desolate.” Matthew‬ ‭23‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭‬‬

As I wrote this out, I was struck by the willful independence and rejection of people refusing to come under God’s protective wings. They “were not willing” and as a result their home was left empty and barren.

How many of the Lord’s blessings do I miss out on because I have refused to come under His protection? How many times have I felt empty because of my willful independence and not drawing close to Him as He desires?

As a nation, the United States has done as Jerusalem did. We have refused His way. We want our way, not His. We demand our will instead of following His. We want the safety but refuse to come under His protection. We find ourselves in a constant place of emptiness. We are willing to allow anyone or anything but Him to fill the void left in that place of desolation.

Prayer – Lord forgive Your Church for being part of the brood that has rejected Your ways. Lord, turn our nation around, draw us to You and the protection of Your wings. Let us walk in the fullness of Your love and protection. Let us boldly proclaim Your truth. We need Your divine intervention in this nation, in our government and elections, in our health and school systems, in every area of our daily lives. Lord, I ask You, do what only You can do.
