Love Perfected

No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭

Love is God, so we are allowing others to see Him when we love one another. We display that He abides in us when we love. As we allow ourselves to love, His love is perfected in us.

I realize I am still learning to love. I remember the first time, outside of my family, I chose to love despite the cost. Despite the outcome, I was willing to give myself completely to love. I loved sacrificially, without thought. It did not end well, but it taught me a little bit more about love. I admit God’s love still is not perfected in me.

I do chose love more often. I can put my husband before me and not be resentful. I feel like He has taught me as well. He has always loved me with a sacrificial love, like God does. He has put me first even when it cost him. It took me a long time to see that because my husband loves differently than me. When I look, I can see he always has in his own way tried to put me first.

Prayer – Lord, I thank You for being love. I thank You for giving me the capacity to love. Thank You for abiding in me and teaching me to love. Thank You for the amazing examples You have given me and those who love me well. Thank You for working through so many people to express Your love. Let me Lord be a vessel of Your love for others.
