But he said to them, “Do not delay me, since the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.” Genesis 24:56
The servant was asking to take Rebekah from her family back to Abraham’s family. He did not want to delay what he had been called to do. I admit I feel a little bit of conviction as I read this encounter. What if as a Christian I stopped looking for excuses and instead said “I will not be delayed. The Lord has prospered my way. Let me go about my Master’s business.”
I am so prone to make an excuse about why I can not do certain things. I need to stop allowing things to stand in the way of obedience and being about my Father’s business.
Prayer – Lord, thank you for the many examples of faithful servants. I am Your servant, but more importantly I am Your child. I don’t need to make excuses, I just need to trust and obey, following Holy Spirit’s guidance. You have prepared my steps. You have equipped me for what You have called me to. You have given me favor. Thank you Lord.
