Obstacles of Purpose

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬

Jonathan Cahn writes “Both the obstacles of Gods purposes and the fulfillment of God’s purposes are made of the same substance…God never promises our lives will be free of obstacles, problems, crises, or adversities. He will use every obstacle in your life to bring to fulfill the very purposes He has planned for your life.”

I believe that to be true. I have seen it play out in my life.

I have seen God take a trial and use it for my good. Being fired was a trial that I didn’t want to face. The experience brought good to me. It brought me closer to Him and others and taught me beyond a doubt God is my provider. He came through in ways I didn’t expect. No one can talk me out of it.

I have seen Him take what seemed like a mountain and use it to strengthen me for the climb. When my dad faced cancer and then years later my mom had heart issues and dementia it was certainly a mountain before me. He strengthened me during those times. When my marriage was at rock bottom, He made us stronger then we were before.

I have seen Him take my past and use it to help others. He didn’t cause me to be homeless but the experiences I had and the resources I learned about later helped me walk others through the journey. It has also given me a compassion for others’ struggles.

I admit I might not have counted it all joy as I entered the trial. I have tried to keep the joy during and certainly have it on the other side.

Prayer – Lord, I admit I don’t care for trials. I am thankful that I can see Your hand even as I walk through, even if it is only a hand to steady my walk as ai take the steps into the unknown. I can trust Your plans and purpose because You have given me steadfastness. I know with You I will lack nothing. I praise You Father.
