Enslaved by Choices

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. Romans 6:6

Sin was brought to nothing at the cross so that we would not have to be enslaved. I realize that there are things like overeating, being judgmental and argumentative that I have excused as “I have no control over it.” I know that more than once I have claimed “I can’t change this, it is who I am.”

With a renewed mind, I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. I can overcome each of those sins, because Christ overcame the world. Their power over me was reduced to nothing at the cross. I have been the one to shackle myself with these sins. I have chose to be the slave even though Christ paid the price for my freedom. I bought in to the lies. I allowed myself to be enslaved but I don’t have to be. I can freely walk away, the debt for my freedom is already paid.

Prayer – Lord, I chose today to stop being enslaved to sin. It was brought to nothing at the cross. I live empowered by the Spirit that rose Christ from the dead. Nothing is impossible for you!
