Foundation

For he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews 11:10

This scripture refers to Abraham, yet the cities he was given were already inhabited. They were built. Some were even fortified. The foundations of the city were there. Yet, He said God was the designer and builder. Could it be that God designs and builds on the foundation that is provided?

God gives us new, but He takes our past and builds on it. He knew it before we were formed. He builds upon it. It is all His design because He already knew what foundation would be there to build upon.

I often see my past as something that happened to me. There were things that were completely out of my control. There were mistakes I made and sin that I allowed to rule my life. I think about how I have let my past define me for so many years instead of seeing God was using it to build the foundation of my life and the plans and purpose You have for me.

Prayer – Lord, Your ways are higher than mine, so I don’t always understand. I know that You are the Author and Finisher of my faith, my life, my purpose. You are the Designer and Builder of all that I am meant to become. Show me how to do my part and let You control it all.
