Go

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1

GO – As I read this scripture I realized that Abram had to go from where his father had settled. God had told her father to go to Canaan but Terah settled instead.

Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there. Genesis 11:31

A lot of Jesus’s commands to His people started with “go.”

Go into the world. Mark 16:15

Go make disciples. Matthew 28:19-20

Go into your room to pray. Matthew 6:6

I have never really felt called to go, but then maybe I was just not listening. I wanted to be home. To settle, but now I have to question is that what God wants for me. I have a longing for somewhere else although I don’t really know where. From my teenage years I long to go and see the world. Moved away and all I wanted to do was come back home. I was here to take care of my momma, but now she is gone. My children are moved. I have felt another longing in my soul to go, but I am not sure where to or why. I know that if it is God’s will for me to now go he will be the one to show me, just as he did with Abraham and the disciples.

Lord, more than ever before, I have no idea what the future holds or what Your plans are for me or Tim. I have no idea where You are leading, only that I have peace, regardless of where You take us. If You want us here, or if you are telling us to go into the community or if it’s “go somewhere that I’m going to show you” Lord I’m listening. Help me to hear and obey.
