Betroth You to Me Forever

And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord. Hosea 2:19-20

God paid the price to betrothed us to Himself through Christ forever. There will be no divorce or annulment, it is forever. He gave us righteousness in Christ and through Christ to replace our sin filled life. He gave us justice, as Christ paid the debt owed by us. He paid in steadfast love because He is love and that cannot change. He paid for us with mercy. He paid with faithfulness.

What an amazing Lord we have! That He would pay such a high price despite our sin. He would pay that price despite our fickle love and faithlessness. It was a grievous cost paid, even if we failed to stay. This scripture is in Hosea and Hosea’s wife was not faithful, yet he remained steadfast. It is a beautiful picture God provided of who He is, despite who we are.

Thank You Father for the cost You paid. Let me never take You for granted again. Help me to understand Your love for me, for You are an amazing groom.
