Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel
and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
“I am the first and I am the last;
besides me there is no god. Isaiah 44:6
A few things stick out to me in this passage. First, God is the King of Israel, not just the Jews. They are all under His authority, even if they don’t acknowledge Him. I don’t remember ever seeing those words before.
The Lord is the Redeemer. He redeemed me, He became the first in my life and the last in my life. I was dead to sin and my old way of life. I became a new creation in Him. He ended my old life and began His life afresh in me.
He is the First and Last in the world also, but it is personal too. If I let His presence live in and through me, it is no longer I, but Christ at work in me. He is my first. He is my last. And He should be everything in between.
Lord, You are already did Your part. Help me to walk every moment as one who has the Alpha and Omega living in her. Use me Lord to do Your will.
