Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9
In order to stay aware of the enemy, I have to be soberminded (calm, collected in spirit, temperate, dispassionate, circumspect), watchful, resisting the enemy, standing firm in faith; aware that others suffer to. Those are tall orders, but necessary so that the enemy doesn’t devour me. God wants me to know I don’t have to do it alone. I have Holy Spirit within me. He has already overcome. I can rest in Christ as in Him all things are possible.
Lord, thank You for walking with me. Give me eyes to see that I may stay watchful both in the natural and in the Spirit. Thank You as I draw near to You, I have You drawing near to me. I can resist the enemy in Your strength. Thank You I have the faith of the Son of GOd and that no temptation has overcome me but that You provide a way out!
