Pray

Passage – The accomplishing of the goal of all things is close at hand. Therefore, keep alert and self-controlled, so that you can pray. 1 Peter 4:7

Restated in your own words – Christ coming back and reconciling His Church to Him is close at hand. Stay alert and self-controlled, focusing on prayer.

Application to your life – Prayer is our greatest tool in the Kingdom, yet so often I shrink back from bold prayers. I fail to ask. I’m inconsistent. I just pray words, without the faith to back them.

Paul tells us that the end is near. He doesn’t advice a long list of rules or a checklist. He says Be alert. Be self-controlled. Both of these are so you can pray.

Prayer is something I have felt drawn too, yet I don’t alertly do it consistently. I do talk to God daily, but self-controlled, alert, focused prayer times are not in my routine or schedule. I need to find more self-control.

Last night was the first time I prayed in a while for things in a very specific way for the things on my heart. My family unit. The Church. The government. Prayer is my macro practice level, I need to get back to it!

Your response back to God – Lord, forgive me for falling away from focused prayer time. I know You love to hear from me with little requests and praises but You also long for deep intimate conversation. I have kept it short lately. Lord I want to give You the more that You deserve.

Thanks for the reminder that You are more like one of my friends than others who are okay with a check-in but don’t generally want to go into the depths.
