Respect and Purity of Heart

Passage – as they see your respectful and pure behavior. 1 Peter 3:2

Restated in my own words – Your husband will see you be respectful and behave purely.

Application to my own life – This is another convicting Scripture that I have allowed at times to condemn me. Respect has always been hard for me when I feel attacked or just taxed. Both of which I have faced often in my marriage.

Purity is also something I struggle with, especially since different people see purity differently. Even between my husband and I there are differences. I try to listen to God’s voice in this matter so I don’t come across as “I am better than you” to him. I know that I have been more respectful than I have in the past. I know I still have a ways to go. Yet God has done a great work in me, I see that and I believe my husband has too.

Your response back to God – Lord, thank You for changing my heart towards one of respect towards my husband and purity of heart. I ask You to continue the work You have begun in me. Let me be an example for You in all my relationships.
