Submit to Authority

Passage – For the sake of the Lord, submit yourselves to every human authority — whether to the emperor as being supreme, or to governors as being sent by him to punish wrongdoers and praise those who do what is good. 1 Peter 2:13-14

Restated in my own words – We are called to submit to authority and those who are acting on behalf of the leaders.

Application in my own life – Right now there is a big debate here in America over undocumented immigrants being separated from their children for illegally crossing the border. The Church is defending the immigrants because of what they are fleeing but fail to want to obey the authority in our land because “it is immoral”. I know that these children are unwilling participants or at least unable to consent to come in here. It is detrimental to children to be separated from parents for no reason. There is still an authority in the land that must be obeyed. It is a solution that addresses both the legal and the moral that is needed.

Your response back to God Lord our land needs answers that can only come from you. Has been going on too long and it is the children who suffer most. The doors for change in Jesus name amen.
