The Past Doesn’t Define Me

Passage – As people who obey God, do not let yourselves be shaped by the evil desires you used to have when you were still ignorant. 1 Peter 1:14

Restated in my own words – Evil desires from your past will come and try to shape your future. Don’t let it. Obey God.

Application to my life – It is easy to open old doors to habits, but I have the ability to obey God and not let old strongholds or habits take control of my life. I won’t let them shape my future. I know those old habits and the power they had in my life. I don’t need to go opening the door to them again. Some things I still work on. I will overcome through Christ in those areas too.

Your response back to God – Lord help me to obey You and not keep allowing past habits and hangouts to shape who I am. The past doesn’t define me. You do. I don’t have to submit to old patterns. I submit to You. Thank You for Your continued work in my life.
