Strongholds

Passage – For certain individuals, the ones written about long ago as being meant for this condemnation, have wormed their way in — ungodly people who pervert God’s grace into a license for debauchery and disown our only Master and Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. Jude 1:4

Restated in my own words – There are people, as it was previously written about that are in the body who pervert God’s Grace, calling it a license to sin and disowning Christ.

Application to my own life – My pastor preached today and challenged each of us to spend the next week really seeking God on these questions.

What strongholds do I have in my life? Are there areas in my life where I have perverted God’s grace and use it as a license to sin?

I know gluttony is a sin. I still eat too much. Idolatry is a sin, yet I have allowed food to take the place of God in certain areas of my life. I don’t rely on the Holy Spirit as much as I should instead allowing my own thoughts and ways to reign, this is pride. These are the strongholds that I know are present in my life.

There may be others, unforgiveness or bitterness towards family that may also be present. They no longer serve a purpose in my life. I am ready for them to be torn down and for God’s truth to transform these areas of my life. My hope is that I can reveal Him to others more clearly through my life.

Your response back to God – Lord, I see these four strongholds in my life and I want to surrender to Your truth allowing a revelation to come and tear down these strongholds in the name of Jesus. Replace them with Truth, because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Lord I come to You as the only One who can bring truth into these areas and the only One who can tear them down. I ask in faith believing it is so. In Jesus name Amen.
