Passage – and I will pour out on the house of David
and on those living in Yerushalayim
a spirit of grace and prayer;
and they will look to me, whom they pierced.”
They will mourn for him
as one mourns for an only son;
they will be in bitterness on his behalf
like the bitterness for a firstborn son. Zechariah 12:10
Restate in my own words – The day will come when this House of David and the Jews repent in grace. They will pray realizing Jesus is the Messiah. They will mourn for their actions against him.
Application to my own life – I almost skipped over the scripture since it is for the House of David. A time comes in every believer’s life where God’s grace is revealed. We weep and cry in deep regret and bitterness for our part in the Messiah’s death. We realized that it was for our actions He died. There are times even after being a believer for 34 years that this realization hits me like it did, and maybe more so, the first time I believed. I have a greater awareness of my part in His suffering. I pray that I never lose that sensitivity.
Your response back to God – Lord thank You for Your spirit of grace and mercy towards me and for Your forgiveness of my sins. Thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus to pay for my sins so that I might have a true relationship with You. Let me never again take for granted or lose my sensitivity to that fact. Lord I praise You for who You are and for Your sozo in me.
