Passage – I prayed to Adonai my God and made this confession: “Please, Adonai, great and fearsome God, who keeps his covenant and extends grace to those who love him and observe his mitzvot! Daniel 9:4
Restated in my words – Daniel prayed to the Lord praising the great and fearsome God, who keeps His promises and gives grace to those who love Him and observe His commands. This was the start of a prayer of repentance.
Application to my life – Some days I do a good job of remembering who God is as I praise Him. I don’t generally start off my prayers this way when I’m repenting. I don’t think about reminding God of who He is or myself of who He is. I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t believe that God, and all He is, would be listening to me and extend the grace and forgiveness. I am requesting what Jesus already gave.
Your response to God – Thank You Lord that I can come to You in true repentance and You hear me. Thank You for Your abounding grace that not only forgives me but frees me from the power of sin.
