Focus and Energy

Scripture – Don’t weary yourself trying to get rich. Why waste your time? For riches can disappear as though they had the wings of a bird! Proverbs 23:4-5

Thoughts about what this Scripture means – Don’t focus and use all your energy trying to get rich, money quickly disappears.

Application to my life – It’s funny, I’m salary, yet at times I used more of my time working on things that bring me fulfillment. Other times I have wearied myself and drained my family too in doing so. Where is that money now? When my focus is on money I can easily be discontent for being underpaid. But when my focus is on fulfilling my purpose, I remember God is my provider. Because of that, what I make is irrelevant and putting all of my energy into making more money seems silly. I work to live not live to work. I live for God and for God I live.

Response back to God – Lord, thank You that You have given me simple taste and that I am not generally money seeking. Keep my focus on You and seeking You first. I love You God!
