The Lord Searches

Scripture – For the eyes of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect toward him, so that he can show his great power in helping them. What a fool you have been! From now on you shall have wars. 2 Chronicles 16:9

Thoughts about what this scripture means – God promises if my heart is perfect toward Him, He will show His great powers in helping me.

Application to my life – The blue Letter Bible transforms this word Perfect as Strong’s H8003 – šālēm

  1. complete, safe, peaceful, perfect, whole, full, at peace
    1. complete
      1. full, perfect
      2. finished
    2. safe, unharmed
    3. peace (of covenant of peace, mind)
      1. perfect, complete (of keeping covenant relation)

My responsibility is to keep my heart in perfect covenant with Him. When I am, His great power will help me. He is searching the earth wanting to help those in covenant with Him. Am I putting God first in my life? Am I daily seeking His presence? Am I seeking His guidance and faithfully obeying? Am I in pursuit of Him?

The answer to all those questions is not often enough. I skirt my time with Him. At times my prayers just drain off as I get distracted by something else. I don’t always listen to His voice. I don’t alway obey even when His message is clear.

Even in my shortcomings, God is there. He is seeking me. He is faithful to speak to me. He hears me. He guides and directs me. He shows His power in my life and through my life.

Response back to God – Lord, I want to seek You like You seek me. I want to love You, like You love me. I want to serve You in complete obedience. I want others to see You in me and be drawn to You to have their hearts changed by You. Lord, help me in my weaknesses.
