Scripture – As far as God is concerned there is a sweet, wholesome fragrance in our lives. It is the fragrance of Christ within us, an aroma to both the saved and the unsaved all around us. 2 Corinthians 2:15

Thoughts about what this Scripture means – I am to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

Application to my life – I immediately think of the children’s movie The Land Before Time, Duckie says to Petrie “You smell me?” As a Christian I put off a fragrance to God, to believers, and unbelievers. That smell should be purely Christ from within me. The world doesn’t need a Jackie tainted gospel in word or deed.

The saved should be able to say “You smell like me because I smell like Christ.” And the lost should say “I’m not sure why but I want to smell like you, because I smell dirty compared to you.” It is interesting to me that God engages the lost in all their senses.

We share our fragrance. We shine our lights. We touch them with our compassion. We tell them of the good news. And they can taste and see that the Lord is good.

Response back to God – Lord, let the aroma of my life be a sweet fragrance to you. Let it be a comforting smell to other believers. And let it be a smell that turns the lost from their sin back to you.
