Light up the Sky

Scripture – You are the world’s light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Matthew 5:14

Thoughts about what this Scripture means – I am a light of the world.

Application to my life – The skyline is much different in the city than it is in the rural areas. The city skyline is filled with multiple lights illuminating the sky providing a view of majestic buildings. Rural lights shine intermittently and highlight the dark shadows of the trees and hills. One illuminates the light the other highlights the darkness.

As Christians, we are called to be cities on a hill glowing in the light for all to see. Collectively we illuminate the good providing a light in the darkness. Individually, our light highlights the darkness. We are called to be both collective lights as part of the body of Christ and illuminating light individually to show people another way from their sin.

Response back to God – Lord, let my light unwaveringly shine for You. Let my light align with other believers that people will see Your kingdom and be drawn to it. Let my light shine individually when I am out in the world, not to bring condemnation but to bring conviction. I pray that the lost will repent as they turn to Your kingdom.
