Promises

Scripture – And by that same mighty power he has given us all the other rich and wonderful blessings he promised; for instance, the promise to save us from the lust and rottenness all around us, and to give us his own character. 2 Peter 1:4

Thoughts about what this scripture means – God’s power has given me everything He has promised.

Application to my life – As a child, I used to sing a song “Standing on the Promises” but do I really? Some I know, but do I really stand on them and believe them. Do I know all of them? Now, I focus on knowing who I am, next I will focus on God’s promises that are available to me and begin to not only walk in who I am but also in all God has for me. I love the promises here that God will give me His own character. At the beginning of the journey, I focused on who God was. Now I focus on all that He is and that He has the power to make me like Him.

I have that character of Christ. I am able to walk out things as He would because this is my true character. This is my mental and moral qualities and my behaviors can line up with that.

Response back to God – Lord, thank You not only for revealing to me who I am in You. Thank You for reminding me that You have made promises that belong to me and that I can stand on them. Help me to discover every promise and walk and stand in them.
