ScriptureBut you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were less than nothing; now you are God’s own. Once you knew very little of God’s kindness; now your very lives have been changed by it. 1 Peter 2:9-10

Thoughts about what the scripture means – I am a member of a chosen race; a royal priesthood; a holy nation; a people for God’s own possession.

Application to my life I love this version of the scripture. It is more meaningful in translation and packed with richness. I have been chosen by God. He wasn’t stuck with me. He didn’t get me by default or accident. He chose me!

I am His priest. I am responsible for

1) Service in His house

2) Offering sacrifices, like presenting my body as a living sacrifice

And so, dear brothers, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living sacrifice, holy—the kind he can accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask? Romans 12:1

3) Giving gifts to Him, like praise, worship, and offerings

4) Interceding for others.

I am holy and pure. This is not because of me but because God chose me and Jesus’s blood covers me. I am God’s very own. I am His! These things are truths because God called me out of sin and darkness and into His light.

On days I feel like I am nothing, I am living in the old man. That is who I was but now I am God’s. I can point others to Him. I am called to show others how He took me out of the darkness. In order to do that, I have to share my testimony. I have to show how my life has been changed by His kindness.

Prayer – Thank You Father for the depth of Your love for me. Thank You that You reveal new facets of who You are and who I am in You. You reveal lies of the enemy. You took me out of the darkness and brought me into Your light. Thank You for Your kindness. Thank You for Your love. Let me walk worthy of the calling You placed on and in me. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
