Set Apart

Scripture – then he saved us—not because we were good enough to be saved but because of his kindness and pity—by washing away our sins and giving us the new joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit, Titus 3:5

Thoughts about what this scripture means – I have been saved and set apart according to God’s doing.

Application to my life – I am grateful that salvation had nothing to do with me, except my decision to receive it because I always fall short. I question my belonging in any group. Not based on who is in the group, but based on my perception of how they see me. I look back at my life and see many failed relationships. I see groups that are still intact that I am not part of any more. I look at the common denominator as me and that somewhere I felt short. I wasn’t worthy of them staying connected, just as I didn’t stay connected.

With God, I know that I changed as He molded me, Although I still have a long way to go, He chose me. He set me aside for His purposes. Not because of who I am but because of who He is. He sent Holy Spirit to and dwell within me to empower me to fulfill all that He has placed within me to do. He didn’t look for my shortcomings, failures, and insecurities. He looked with kindness and pity and saved me and filled me.

Response back to God – Thank You Lord for choosing me. Thank You for saving me from my sin, for sending your Holy Spirit and for truly changing my life. Lord, let me fulfill everything You have placed inside me and purpose me to do. Let me not waste time on things not of You. In Jesus name amen.
