Changed By or Changing

Scripture – For the Holy Spirit, God’s gift, does not want you to be afraid of people, but to be wise and strong, and to love them and enjoy being with them. 2 Timothy 1:7

Thought about what this scripture means – I have been given a spirit of power, love and self-discipline.

Application to my life – There are people lately that I do not enjoy being around. I have not been loving towards them. I have not been strong or wise walking in the Spirit. I have found myself being changed by my environment rather than walking in the power, love, and sound mind that is available through Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit in me should change the environment. I have tuned out instead of allowing God within me to change the environment.

Holy Spirit is not given me a spirit of fear. He has given me power to change my environment instead of allowing myself to be changed by it. HE has given me a love for people and to enjoy being around them.

Response back to God – Lord, forgive me for shutting down in my environment at work. Forgive me for being negative about others. Lord, guard my mouth not to engage in that and guard my mind. Fill me instead with Your Holy Spirit that You might change the environment. Help me to love and not fear.
