Scripture – For in baptism you see how your old, evil nature died with him and was buried with him; and then you came up out of death with him into a new life because you trusted the Word of the mighty God who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then he gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for he forgave all your sins Colossians 2:12-13

Thoughts about what this Scripture means – I have been buried, raised and made alive in Christ.

Application to my life – I think I struggle a lot as a Christian because although I accepted Christ at age 8, I walked away from age 13-17, well really twenty-one. I didn’t live a life fully alive in Christ, despite having professed my faith and being baptized. I never doubted my salvation. I realize I didn’t allow God to cut the sins out of my life. I had learned the do’s and don’ts, but no one taught me the why and how.

I didn’t learn about the intimate part of my relationship with Christ or the practical application to my life. I had received the gift, but I hadn’t started to open it. I just carried it around and displayed it at times.

Response back to God – Lord, thank You for the gift of salvation and baptism. Thank You for Your grace and mercy as I held that gift without really taking time to open it. Lord, help me to help others open that gift and enjoy all you died for us to have. Amen.
