Spiritual Circumcision

Scripture – When you came to Christ, he set you free from your evil desires, not by a bodily operation of circumcision but by a spiritual operation, the baptism of your souls. Colossians 2:11

Thoughts about what Scripture means – I have been circumcised by Christ by the baptism of my soul. He has cut away my sinful nature.

Application to my life – My mind immediately goes to physical circumcision why it was done

1. As part of the Covenant Abraham made with God
2. Hygiene
3. To reduce infection and disease

The same is true in our spiritual lives. Away at my sinful nature when I enter covenant with him. Takes it away replacing it with the new nature freeing me from all evil desires.

My spiritual hygiene is the condition or practices conducive to maintaining health especially cleanliness. I can only maintain my spiritual health by removing sin and replacing it with Christ’s righteousness.

It keeps me from infection Of sin and disease in my spiritual life because it keeps me from the sin that infects my life and keeps me separated from God. All healing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual come from Christ. Circumcises my soul he is preventing sin from infecting the rest of my body.

Response back to God – Lord, thank You that You have circumcised my soul. In areas where I have allowed sin back in, take me back through the process, as many times as necessary to keep it away. I want to live a life free of my old nature. That is only possible in you. I ask these things in Jesus name amen.
